Je fais actuellement des recherches sur MALTE ville de Luca, je suis allée sur le site GENEANUM mais je n'ai rien trouvé (ou bien je ne m'y prends pas bien).

Donc voilà je recherche les actes de naissance de deux soeurs à mon arrière grand-père (lui est né en Algérie à Philippeville)nées toutes les deux à Luca (Malte). Elles se sont mariées en Algérie à Philippeville.

Prénom du père de mon arrière grand-père : Carmélo (Charles)

Nom et Prénoms de la Mère de mon arrière grand-père : CAMILLERI Marie Rose (née à Luca)

Tous les deux mariés à Malte

Pour les deux soeurs nées à Luca :

DAMATO Marianne, Catherine, Marguerite née le 13/12/1873

DAMATO Andréana, Carmel, Joséphine née le 01/03/1876

Ce nom de famille a été très mal orthographié en Algérie mon arrière grand-père s'appelait TOMATO Salvator ses autres soeurs DOMATO et son frère DONATO...... bref un véritable casse-tête.

I hope that someone could guide me to find the information I need or be able to shed some light on things for me.

I am really struggling to find any information on my ancestors from both my parents side. At the moment my priority is to get as much details on my mother's family. My mum is 97 years old and although my mum believes that their parents had 18 children, her older brother had told his children that there were 21 children. My one and only discovery was that there were only 16 children in the family. That was by making contact with a church in Malta and the priest sent me the birth names and dates of births. He was not able to help me with further inquiries. I don't know if somehow they may have missed some as my mother always believed that there were 18 children.

I can't find anything on line about any of her siblings. There are 2 in particular that I would dearly love to get the correct information on as mum never stops talking about them. They were the 2 oldest girls who looked after the younger ones.

First born: Maria Carmela Cuschieri nee Borg born 1905 August 26. She immigrated to America and had 2 children. I would love to find details on when she immigrated and when she passed away and where. Any information would be appreciated.

Second born: Giovanna aka Jane aka Joan Borg. Born 1906 August 21. Giovanna did marry, possibly his name was Lawrence aka Wensu, surname is unknown. To mum's knowledge, Giovanna had a baby boy but baby and Giovanna passed away at birth in Malta. Again any information or confirmation of these details would be appreciated.

If there are photos that people come across that would be awesome.

My 97 year old mother has only one sibling alive. She is 91 and lives in Malta but she is not well and over the years wasn't able to offer any assistance with the rest of the siblings details. We don't live in Malta so I am not able to visit the churches to look the details up.

If anyone could offer any assistance, I would be so grateful.

Je recherche toutes infos sur le couple DI FRANCESCO Sebastiano et MISSUD Caterina nés à Malte. Ils sont indiqués sur le certificat de mariage de leur fils DI FRANCESCO Michele X AMATO Maddalena, mariès à Terranova de Sicile le 25 janvier 1845.

Avez vous des pistes pour faire cette recherche?

Carmela Mizzi est née le 24 novembre 1869 à Msida.

Je ne dispose pas de renseignements complémentaires.

J'ai trouvé de nombreux enfants :

1866 - Carmela

1868 - Johannes Salvador (mon ancêtre qui a émigré en algérie)

1870 - Josephus Antonius

etc

jusqu'à

1882 - Georgius Salvator

Par contre, pas de relevé de décès de l'un ou l'autre, pas plus que de mariage.

- Avez-vous des pistes me permettant de progresser ?

Whether it is the parking headache in Valletta, the flight of steps of the 18th century building or lack of time that is keeping you away from the National Library in Piazza Regina, you now have no more excuses.

A digital archive of the documents at the National Library in Valletta is up and running and readers can now download a copy of the first printed books dating back to the 15th century, known as incunabula, to read them at their leisure on their mobile or computer.

There will also be no more squinting at small type as readers can zoom into the text.

While it is free to use for research and studying, publishers would need to purchase the rights from the National Library.

There are over 60,000 pages accessible online so far, but the digitisation process will be ongoing as the library is always receiving new material.

So far, 700,000 pages have been captured and are going through the digitisation process. This involves a team of seven people and starts with the Reader Services department which prioritises the documents.

There are three main criteria stipulating what get digitised first and this includes requests from readers.

If someone wishes to read a document that is on the library’s shelves in Valletta but not yet in its online vault, they can now ask the National Library to put that book in the queue for digitisation.

Books that are going to go through restoration are also given priority as digitising a document is part of the preservation process “creating a surrogate to preserve the original”.

Meanwhile, valuable and fragile documents such as Nostradamus’s prophecies and newspapers respectively, which are also in high demand, are also prioritised.

Throughout the process, high-quality images are saved by the library so that eventually these could be printed out for those who request a copy.

The material for this project, led by Maroma Camilleri, is then downsized to go online, watermarked and indexed.

Photos of the documents at the library started being taken some years back, however, the process to make them accessible for the public kicked off three years ago.

Asked whether going online would have an impact on the decreasing number of people who actually set foot in the library, Oliver Mamo, director at the National Bibliographic Office, said: “It is not imperative for us to see people inside here, but rather, to see people being serviced through here.

“The library is still open, and it is especially frequented by foreign visitors. However, through the online system we could also capture statistics about the number of readers that access the documents.”

Users do not need a user profile, but just go on http://digivault.maltalibraries.gov.mt/ and look up the document by creator, date range, subject and type of publication.
