[Malte] Surname Scarbet

Can anyone please advise if this is a Maltese surname.

My 3 x great grandparents Francesco Xerri and Caterina Azzopardi were married in Cospicua in 1801.

Her parents were shown as Angelo Azzopardi and Maria Scarbet.

there is no marriage for Angelo and Maria on Adami and the marriage mentioned above is the only instance of the name Scarbet.

can you suggest an alternativbe spelling.

Carabot appears to be the most likely although I will look again at the register.

However no marriages on Adami.
