Hi,
I know this is an old thread, but I feel it is necessary to relay my own experiences with maltageneaology.com with regard to these "royal" connections.
I am a Sultana. According to maltageneaology, my direct paternal line becomes SAGONA/SAVONA 10 generations back...
As we have found through searching the primary sources such as notarial acts, parish records, and secondary sources such as the Masini and Adami indexes, there is NO evidence for a connection between Nicolo SOLTANA and Nicolo SAVONA, as maltageneaology alleges.
Thus, my conclusion is that maltageneaology should be entirely discredited as a source, and at the very least should be ignored regarding individuals born before 1600.
Yes, there are still many unknowns surrounding Arab/Muslim Malta, however, we can only begin to have this discussion AFTER the owner of maltageneaology reveals his sources. Until then, stay away from that website.
