Good Morning everyone,
I am in a bit of a dilemma.
I am currently researching a certain Aloisio Damato.
He married Grazia in Bormla in 1764. Her name in the marriage register is listed as 'Grazia'.
Now I am noticing that he had various children and at times her name is written down as Graziella and at other times another name is coming up that of Lucrezia.
When eventually one daughter he had with 'Lucrezia' dies at the age of 2 she is only listed as the daughter of Aloisio Damato.
I am certain that he did not re-marry because the name Graziella comes up again after he has two other offspring from Lucretzia.
So my question is this:
Is Lucrezia another person? is Aloisio having illegitimate children? and if yes why would the parish priest register the birth with the mother's name also if they were illegitimate?
Can someone help me, please?
Thank you
R.
