The name was not translate in foreign langage after the death of the person.
My great mother was born 'Giuseppa', but nobody ever called her Giuseppa (maybe in her childhood, but not after).
It seems that before people wanted to integrate quickly their new country (change name, learn new langage, ...). And she named her children with french names !
But now, immigrants keep their name and they give the same name to their children.
The times are changing.
