Je me permets d'ouvrir ce sujet consacré aux maltais et italiens ayant émigré vers les iles Ioniennes.
En effet depuis la colonisation britannique, certains maltais ont émigré vers ces iles grecques qui étaient également sous administration britannique, ce qui a facilité les échanges. Certains de mes ancêtres sont des maltais de Corfou et de Céphalonie. Quelques articles sur internet documentent très bien cette diaspora, de nombreux descendants y vivent encore et sont dotés de noms maltais hellénisés (Gauchi devient Gaoutsis, Formosa -> Formozas, Psaila -> Psaila, Azzopardi -> Atzopardis). Même un maire de Corfou se nommait Sotiris Micalef.
Plus de 2/3 des catholiques de Corfou étaient maltais.

Ainsi je souhaitais savoir s'il est prévu à l'avenir d'y consacrer un onglet, voire une base de données.

I would like to open this topic dedicated to the Maltese and Italians who emigrated to the Ionian Islands.
Indeed, since British colonization, some Maltese have emigrated to these Greek islands which were also under British administration, which facilitated trade. Some of my ancestors are Maltese from Corfu and Kefalonia. So I wanted to know if there are plans in the future to dedicate a tab to it, or even a database.

My great grandmother, Carmela Cachia was born in Kefalonia as well as most of her family. Her parents married there (even though they were Maltese). I believe they moved there to find work? Eventually they did move back to Malta as her youngest sister was born in Cospicua. Carmela married in Vittoriosa and had a child, my grandfather. I would love to be able to read more about the Maltese in Greece.
